Kindergarten Registration will begin in March. All parents can register at their child’s neighborhood school. If you have entered the school lottery or have submitted a transfer request, we recommend you still register at your neighborhood school. It is much easier to transfer student records then identify students who have not been registered anywhere. If you are unsure of your neighborhood school, please contact the office of student assignment at 560-2059 or visit the Student Assignment Maps.

Durham Public Schools offers several opportunities for parents to learn more about Kindergarten. At our Kindergarten Welcome Sessions, parents have the chance to learn more about Kindergarten Registration, hear from experienced Kindergarten teachers, and get answers to any questions they may have.

Durham Public Schools offers many school choices for your incoming Kindergartner. You can choose from your neighborhood school, a year-round school, or a magnet school.
