If you feel that your child is academically, socially, and emotionally ready for Kindergarten but does not meet the chronological requirements, parents can choose to apply for Early Admission.
To qualify for Early Admission children must:
1. Have reached the age of four on or before April 16th.
2. Be tested by a licensed psychologist (at your own expense) after April 16th. Schools will look at these scores to determine a child's eligibility.
3. Score at the 98th percentile on the aptitude tests AND at the 98th percentile on either the reading or mathematics achievement test.
4. Be presented for enrollment no later than the first month of school.
5. Be interviewed by the principal of the school. The principal will then decide if a early Kindergarten placement is appropriate.
Parents should pick up an Early Admission to Kindergarten Packet at their home school for more information. If you have additional questions, please contact Kate MacDonell at 560-9403 or the Office of Advanced Academics at 560-2029. |
